Reflection of This Pop-Culture Course
We are in the end. We are at the beginning.
The “introduction to student “essay said that studying popular culture can make richer connections, and “yes! I did it”. This class is enlightening. It started our thinking about the pop-culture. Made us look around our society and think deeper than other people. It’s like opening our eyes. Show us a way to understand the world, After this class I can see things on the street more clearly and deep. What are the world doing, and where the world is heading, and the most important thing is why the world is going to like that. However pop-culture are not staying there they are spouting every day, it’s impossible to study all of it in one semester, but our eyes had opened.
We are in the end of this class, but we are at the beginning of studying pop-culture.

POP STAR - David Letterman
David Michael letterman is an American TV host. He is the best know as the host of late night T talk show.
Before he became the host of late show. He is a very strange and funny weather man, but he got fire because once he celebrates for a storm coming. After that he went to LA and stared his talk show.
He became the host of “the late show with David letterman” since the 1982 on CBS channel. He has been the talk show every night for 27 years. I can’t image how much had he talk during these 27 years. I can’t even talk 3min here.
He is the first major American comedy performer return to the TV after 9.11 attacks. On that night the show was every serious and full of anger.
Letterman said “they said the people who attack us were religionist, religionist? if you can live forever will that make any sense to you? Will that make any goddamned sense?”
The late show had many guest. And they came for difference areas. Like Super star, president or a lady likes we just seen. But many people were afraid to his guest, because he always mocking his guest. But I like his style, he is funny and humorous.
Chicago International Film Festival
We went to the Chicago international film festival which is a big popular event, and it was a real great experience to join into the pop-culture of the world. And it began our Chinese club AMC weekly activity. we had seen a movie call " a place one's own "
A PLACE OF ONE’S OWN
Movie Review
A Place of one’s own is a straight and narrow film of Taiwan city movie. It isn’t a very excellent product of Taiwan movie, but as a Taiwanese representatives film, it did not lose the level. Taiwan movie traditionally have a good plot reflecting some issue indirectly, thoughtfully and without any digital effect. APOOO were completely fit into this model. Taiwan movie prefer serious and thoughtful. They don’t like to use visual stimulation to grab attentions or present their idea, however they still have some hook. In this movie director Lou Yi-An using rock music as the hook of this film to try to get Taiwan teenager’s attention, but as I can see, I don’t think it is a successful hook. In fact, the rock music in this film is the most terrible part, because Lou Yi-An using an actor which is without any rock music experience to perform the rock singer and sang the film song of this film were real bed. But in other hand, the origami houses plot part was much better than the rock music part. I think origami houses already a real good hook for foreigners who were interested in Chinese culture. Origami houses are houses for afterlife. The main performer Jack Gao who was one of best Taiwan movie performer, performing the main characters Master Lin, Master Lin had builds origami houses all of his life, but his life were closing the end, he was still not able to buy a houses for his family, so his final dream is builds a huge origami house for his afterlife. The story were Opening with this housing issue and using full length shot to Stating the whole story which is teems with life. As a foreign film, it wasn’t easy to understand the episodic actions even it converged, but it was a treat trying to make sense of the culture-specific aspects of the film and marvel at the way these origami houses are constructed. In conclusion, If you are a big fans of Hollywood it will real bore you. But if you were enough with Hollywood’s boring plot and not very care there are no direct visual stimulation, it will be a really chance to explore the eastern movie.

Ok, Washington is great. But I am not. Did you lie? Did you lie? Every one lied in this world. Washington was honest so his father forgives him. But when I was honest to my father that I get zero point for my midterm he says noting to me for three months.
